Stop Rosebank

Despite warnings from climate scientists and experts, the Rosebank oil field - the biggest undeveloped field in the UK - was approved by the Tory government.

Thousands of people across the world came together and forced Shell to pull out of the Cambo oil field in the North Sea. Campaigners have also successfully forced Equinor to pull out of or pause projects in Norway, Canada and Australia. This is proof that we can win. Through the dedicated efforts of our movement, we’ve laid the foundation for the UK government to be elected on a platform of shifting from oil and gas production to renewable energy. We believed that the decision to approve Rosebank was not just a disaster for the climate, and morally and economically wrong, but unlawful. So we took Rosebank to court and won. The court has ruled the Rosebank oil field unlawful and its approval has been overturned. The government now has the chance to remake the decision after their oil & gas consultation concludes in spring. The key is to make as much noise as possible to make sure that they make the right decision to reject Rosebank. By pushing back on every front against this field, together we can delay, block and eventually stop this field. From direct action to legal pressure, political lobbying to media scrutiny, local community outreach to online actions - every act counts. There are many ways for you to help #StopRosebank.
